Technologies

3C Maxx Terra
An intermediate compound configuration used in select mountain tires. The 3C MaxxTerra is softer and offers more traction than the 3C MaxxSpeed, but provides better tread wear and lower rolling resistance than the MaxxGrip.

EXO+ PROTECTION
The previous EXO+ construction was based on a 120 TPI carcass reinforced with SilkShield and EXO puncture protection layers. The new EXO+ construction is based on a 60 TPI carcass coated with a new abrasion-resistant rubber. The sidewalls feature a now rubberized EXO puncture protection layer and a short butyl insert is incorporated above the bead. While the previous EXO+ technology had a higher puncture protection than EXO, the new EXO+ technology now offers almost double the puncture protection and 20% more puncture protection, essentially placing it between EXO and DD - with only 1-5% more weight depending on the model. This should be a significant added value for many cyclists. The rolling behavior of the new construction is very similar to that of the previous one. Even if a 120 TPI rolls better than a 60 TPI in a direct comparison, SilkShield "dampens" this difference.

Tubeless Ready (TR)
Tubeless tires have many advantages: You can ride with lower air pressure. This results in better traction and lower rolling resistance. In addition, the absence of a hose also reduces the risk of punctures. MAXXIS TR tires are better prepared for mounting with sealing milk than other "Tubeless Ready" tires. The bulge of our TR tire is completely covered with a layer of rubber like a real UST tubeless tire.
